RARE WATERFRONT LAND
Botanica Estate developer Janet Hogan this week recalled the day,
ten years ago, she and husband Ralph “stood on a rock overlooking
Pioneer Bay and dreamed of quitting Sydney and making a life here
in the Whitsundays”.
Well, the dream came true and Janet and Ralph not only set up
home in the tropics but more recently became one of the new breed
of lifestyle developers in the region. The Hogans successfully
launched stage one of their project, Botanica Waterfront, off Paluma
Road, and then came second stage The Ridge, with most lots sold.
Following the recent collapse of the sale of Lot 5 at Botanica
Waterfront the Hogans are offering the 2091 square metre site at
a “knock down” price of $595,000 – the only block
of absolute waterfront land currently available at the development.
“People often ask what a prime site beside the ocean is
really worth and my answer is that in ten years’ time, when
waterfront land in the Whitsundays is non-existent, people will
kick themselves for not buying at prices currently available,” says
Janet. “Since we made a commitment to the region 10 years
ago prices for waterside land have gone up 1000% … what price
the future?”
Further underlying their commitment to the project, the Hogans
have recently moved into a house costing over $1 million to build
at Botanica Waterfront, which has an esplanade of a mere 5 metres.
At the request of other lot owners, Botanica Waterfront will shortly
become a gated community to “ensure the privacy and quietness
which attracted them here in the first place.”
Janet says she and Ralph “will never forget the first time
we came to what was the Botanica wilderness … the most we
ever saw was someone coming to empty a crab pot … and we’ve
tried to preserve and enhance this magical environment for the
enjoyment of a lucky few.”
